Half day • Sistine Chapel of America, Pikillaqta, Tipon and Huasao Wetlands
8:00 am - Our vehicle along with our guide will pick you up from your hotel to head south of the city of Cusco.
First stop: The village of Andahuaylillas (3,122 masl), where the Sistine Chapel of America is located. It is worth noting that there are only two Sistine Chapels in the world: one in Rome and the other right here in Cusco. In this chapel, we will be able to admire the murals and part of the Cusqueño school of painting dating back to the 17th century.
Second stop: The Pikillaqta Archaeological Park. This site belonged to the pre-Inca Wari culture. The Incas, being expansionists, managed to conquer this culture, so we will be able to distinguish between Inca and pre-Inca architecture.
Third stop: The Tipon Archaeological Park, a place where water was worshipped. Tipon features aqueducts and water channels carved in stone in an extraordinary way. Our guide will explain the dates of water worship and how the ceremony was performed.
Last place to visit: The Huasao Wetlands, a completely modern site where, around a lagoon, we will be able to observe local birds such as: Andean geese, Andean flamingos, gulls, coots, great egrets, and more.
2:00 pm - Our vehicle will take you back to the city of Cusco, concluding the tour.
End of the tour.
Optional: Huaro Chapel
