1 day • Discover the turquoise lagoon at the foothills of the Humantay snow-capped mountain
5:00 am - Hotel pick-up and departure north of the city of Cusco.
The journey lasts two hours to the town of Mollepata, where we will have our buffet breakfast (half an hour to enjoy our food).
We continue our journey to the starting point of the hike for 1 hour and 30 minutes. On this stretch, we will appreciate the change in climate, the change in flora, the different birds of the area, and if we are very lucky, we may see wild guinea pigs.
Start of hike: 12,800 ft. Our guide will give recommendations before, during, and after the journey.
The hike lasts 1 hour and 30 minutes at a firm and steady pace to the Humantay Lagoon, located at the foothills of the Humantay snow-capped mountain at 13,780 ft.
Once at the lagoon, our guide will gather us in a circle and explain about the Apus and why they are found in the snow-capped mountains. He will make a small demonstration of a request to the Apus, since in Inca times the Apus were Gods.
We begin the descent via another route in order to see birds, much easier and simpler.
Our transport will take us to the restaurant to enjoy our delicious buffet lunch.
6:00 pm - Return to the city of Cusco.
End of tour.
